Description:
The book contains exercises for lip slurs, the glissando and the lip trill. At the very back the author includes a practice planner for the student
My Opinion:
The book starts out with a preface where Walter M. Smith introduces the book. After that 41 exercises for developing lip flexibility begin. Before the exercises begin Walter M. Smith gives some instructions to how to do the exercises. The book starts out with some basic lip slurs then it gradually gets harder. After the lip slurs are done the glissando section starts. Again he gives instructions and the exercises start easy and then gradually get harder, he does the same thing with the lip trill section.
I my self use this book allot. I don't know why I like it so much. I probably like it so much because I'm not afraid of it and it makes me feel like I can do every single one of those exercises. Plus I also see improvement and results. I mostly work with the lip slurs section witch has helped me allot in learning to move air and stuff like that. And mostly because of this book I'm allot more flexible then what I have ever been in my entire life.
This is one of my personal favorite lip slur books out there. It's probably not the best but I have found that it works find for me. So I would recommend this book just simply because I like it. It's not a must have or anything but if you can your hands on it and afford it then it wouldn't hurt to buy it just to have it laying around.
