Book: Technical Studies for the Cornet Author: Herbert L. Clarke Publisher: Carl Fischer No. Pages: 53 Purchased @: http://www.claudegordonmusic.com/products.htm |
Description:
A group of technical studies to develop finger dexerity and proper air use. The book also includes various different etudes at the end of each section to test the student.
My Opinion:
First the book starts with a introduction to the book. The book has 10 different studies. The studies are all written in the same format. First instructions, exercises and then a etude. Basically the exercises are to build up air power and develop fingering dexterity and multiple tonguing skills.
I my self really like this book because after doing the first study once I saw huge improvements in my playing. Everything just felt allot better. I saw improvement as I moved up in the studies. By the time I was done the entire book I've been pretty much decent with just about any technical thing that pops my way. Nothing really scares me as much as it use to. Know I'm more confident.
I once read a quote that said, "If Arbans is the bible, then Clarke must be the minister". To me this is true. Clarke pretty much preaches out of Arbans. Once you go threw the Clarke book once everything in Arbans will seem so much easier and it will just be allot easier.
So in conclusion this book along with Arbans is a must have for any trumpeter that is serious and really wants to improve there playing and go to the next level and develop the proper way to use your air.
